So. Don't freak out. I already know what you're thinking. Things such as: "what he hell is this 'likemystoppie?' character up to?" "What the HELL is stoppie perusing in the 996 forum?" "WHY THE HELL CAN'T STOPPIE LEAVE US ALONE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS SACRED?!! IS THERE NOOOOO GOD?!" Or maybe just "hey, looks at that! Itz Stoppieeezz- Sup bro-ha?!" Fine! I'll spill the beans!! In my 'quest' to figure out what the hell Im gonna do for my next whip I had this idea. And the idea is, well, hell- If I want a 911, and can't afford to justify a 997- why WAIT? Get a 996? Right? So. that's what I'm dooooin. Think'n 'bout "maybe" getting one. comments? Concerns? Worried that I'm going to start mucking it up in the 996 forum?

POST 2Original post

Yo stoppie... keep the rubber side down and there are no worries!! These are priced so good now I would buy a second one if I didnt have other obligations ! I keep seeing them and thinking... damn... THAT is a nice car for that price!! - then again, I love mine and would not want to be with out it... GL in your search

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

There's a shed load of stuff in lower $40's to mid/high $30's.... man o man. I'm thinking someone should sell me their C4S *cough Phil*cough cough* for a great and friendly price!!

POST 4Original post

I think I saw Phil cringe with the thought of his car rolling on the front wheels only!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

lmao!!! no, no stoppies on the Pwhip. But, smokey burn outs? Perhaps.

POST 6Original post

Chris, I am glad to see that you might have finally come to your senses! You were considering a Mini over a 996!! Paleezzeee!!! I'm glad you finally pulled you head out of your ***! Get a CPO. It will be worth the extra bucks to get you 2 years of restful nights. By then you'll be ready for your 997. Besides, you will find that the 996 Forum is a LOT more fun that the 997 Forum. We are more down to earth here.

POST 8Original post

Welcome, Chris!! This board is much more sedate than OT, but occupied by great folks. Now that the Panamera is bringing back the 996's front lights, this model will gain new respect! Actually, I say go for it - the 996 is a fabulous car for a now relatively low price. PS: Harder to get banned here!!

Mine is CPO'd until January. But, if I sell stoppie my 4S, then you guys have to pony up to keep ME on Rennlist.

POST 10Original post

Phil, we really need to get you a membership on the board which specializes in recurring Audi problems. I think it's called the OUCHIE Board.

POST 11Original post

Chris, In your price range: 1. 996C4S 2. 996TT

POST 13Original post

Hey, Chris.... Hope you find one and join the 996 fold...

POST 18Original post

Chris, Do it. These are GREAT cars. In fact, if you want to track your "P-whip" at all, I'd say the mk2 996 is actually better than a 997.1 (for a number of reasons having to do with weight, simplicity & cost). If that's the case, look for a mk2 6sp CPO coupe with MY '02+ carrera 18' lightweight wheels and as FEW other options as possible. Keep it light. You'll have no regrets!

I gotta say, I was just kind of lucky that I made the "right" decision with my car. I was fortunate enough to get a CPO'd 2002 and I really have enjoyed it on the track. I think quickxotica's post sums it up.... the MK2s have great power, still light weight, and with a few performance mods to suspension, can be awesome track cars and daily drivers. I even like the fact that I don't have navigation - because if I want it, I can slot in a double-din touchscreen w/Garmin GPS and it's better than anything Porsche ever provided... but then again, I love driving it so much, I haven't opted for any distractions... Now, that said, my engine went after 2k miles (32k total) and CPO covered it. But on the other hand, I suspect any engine up through 2008 could have the same failures (same design, right?), and replacing it is less than 8 hours labor... Don't hurt me..... Seriously though, I'm a believer - wonderful cars - and the price couldn't be better.

POST 20Original post

Do it Chris. The 997.2 is the first since mine that I've been tempted to upgrade to. A 996 is the deal of the century right now.

POST 22Original post

There's a pristine C4S Cab ('04) somewhere I know that might be searching for a new home in a few months......

Chris nancies around in a Benz. I'm not sure he could handle a 996...maybe he should think about the Mini again or maybe try my Miata--I'd cut him a good deal. That is all.

POST 25Original post

Maybe we need to find "nancy-pants" Chris a 996... with a Tip. He might be able to handle that! Hey Nicolaas, I may have a buyer for your car!

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So as many of you have been following the 'trials and tribulations' of finding a whip for a while. And recently, I thought; 'hell, why not just go get a sweet 996' as many of you know they are "THE" Dealio. Right? right. Sooo, just to make sure my ducks were in a row, I pulled my credit. (((((BOOM))))) A car loan I co-signed for for a relative (No, not my sister.) has been paid LATE X 10 times!!!!! Omfg. I can't believe this. This month REALLY is taking a massive poo on me. So, only because of my own history with Mercedes, I'll be getting another Automatic Benzito. I know, I'm not feeling 'sorry' for myself as I get to drive a new car. But... WTF??? I'm so frustrated, it's only been until now that I've been able to cool off enough to even right about it. My GF is beside herself as I'm so angry I'm almost unapproachable. So that's it. NO 911, or really "FUN" car in my near future. I now have the lovely task of 'unf**king this cluster f**k'. I seriously want to kill someone right now. Brutally. :b anghead:

On a lighter note, you aren't the only one with screwed up credit nowadays - seems like so many people are going into foreclosures, bankruptcies, etc. I'm guessing you'll be able to get it cleaned up with time, patience, and a little hard work. The bigger question is, why didn't the finance company contact you if you cosigned the loan (before they wacked your credit)? And the even bigger one is, why the he!! did you cosign anyone's loan, okay sorry, spilled milk at this point. You have permission to mame your relative now.

Answer 1) car has to be near repossession to get a call; but as irony would have it, he's been paying on time in the LAST 5 months. LOL Answer 2) because if feel that if I canhelp out, I will. Clearly this will cost me. But hopefully it get's me a good seat in Hell. LOLZ.....

Chris, One would think that your dealers F&I person might have a relationship with a loan officer that could hook you up??
