Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

FINALLY! PSE got installed today, just ran down Orange Turnpike in NY, WOW does it make a difference. I thought the car sounded great before, no comparison. Can't wait for the wife to hear it rumble in the garage. Next up, silver gauges. Thanks for all the endorsments, your were all right on the money. Garv

POST 2Original post

Congratulations! I love mine. Give it a couple weeks to break in, it will get even better.

POST 3Original post

Garv, Where did you purchase the PSE? Did the dealer give you a PCA discount?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I bought it from Justin at Brandywine Porsche, $1,499.00 including shipping. He's great to work with on any parts. BTW, where did you get your Avitar, it that your car?

POST 5Original post

Yes, that's my 40th, photoshop background deleted from a pic I took at the dealers lot before I drove it home. Was just foolin around while on vacation. Back to your upgrade- I have Robin Sun's RSR mufflers on my 993 C4S (and love them) to bring back that authentic 911 sound and was wondering what options wouldnt be that obnoxious for the 996. Sounds like you love the PSE. Any drone in the cockpit at 2500-3500 rpm on the highway?

POST 6Original post

You guys are killing me....I really want a 40th anniv....but still only have 19k miles on my 2000 996 c2 coupe...I think the 40th is the bast car for the money at todays prices.... Enjoy Them!!! Robert

POST 7Original post

PSE is great. One of the other guys posted this link yesterday to Porsche's website that lets you play a sound file of a 911 with and without PSE. Anyone interested in PSE should check it out (when you get to the page click on the 911's engine): http://www.porschedriving.com/the_cars_flash.asp

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't notice any drone but my ear may not be like yours. At idle, awesome, launch thru high RMP 3rd, even better, highway cruising speed perfect. There were so many guys on this site who have owned several 911's who raved about the PSE I felt I had to go for it. Drove around lots of country roads last night and may make me rethink installing the XM radio I ordered, why ruin the now built in music. By the way, the sound clips do NO justice to the actual sound. This car gets better by the day, got to get to a DE track event soon. Garv

POST 10Original post

Hey Garv-I put mine on 3 weeks ago--it totally makes the car!!!! and the smoked side markers!!! Ive become addicted to blipping the throttle to hear the sound Mike 40th 911

POST 11Original post

I was afraid you were going to say that. OK, OK, you sold me. Another DIY added to the Palm Pilot. BTW, I never listen to the radio in any porsche I drive. In the 914/6 you cant hear it anyway. In the 993 with RSR mufflers its pure music of its own. Each is a unique growl/snarl. Sounds like you guys found musical nirvana for the 996.

POST 12Original post

YEAH the install wasnt too bad--really straightfoward wrenching and wedging mufflers in and out. A lift would be a breeze --i did it on my back with a jack --but i enjoy doing it myself Mike

POST 14Original post

you guys really make me want to get PSE. I would like to hear PSE and Fabspeed side by side. Any volunteers in Seattle? (Eastside) I will buy double tall :-)

POST 15Original post

Congrats on getting PSE. I've had it for about 4 months now and if you like it new, you'll LOVE it after 500 miles. The growl gets deeper. PSE is the best upgrade for the 996 that money can buy! Enjoy! Mark

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Heading on a blast up to Maine in 2 weeks so the 500 miles will be achieved in far less than a few months, can't wait! Garv
