I 've heard that for roughly $200 you can bring a Porsche to a dealer and they will perform a pre-purchase inspection for you. What does this service include? Do they check for compression in the engine and do a full diagnostics of it? Do they check the electrical systems and can they determine if the car has had paint work done? I appreciate any input.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

When I bought mine, they plugged into the computer and downloaded a full diagnostic. Included history on overrevs, number of times the alarm went off, etc. They also did a visual inspection, which is really ony as good as the mechanic. They didn't do any physical tests on the engine (compression, etc.) because they can get that info from the computer. Do a search on PPI, and you may find more info.
