Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I purchased some 997 factory wheels/tires off ebay from a guy who happens to be local. (Atlanta) got a great deal, convenient to get them put on, and he'll sell my old wheels for me etc... Anyway, i'm concerned because i now notice the 997 wheels are wider then the the 18" carerra hurricaines i have on there now. (11" vs 10" on the rears) i made this purchase fast as i noticed the auction was ending literally minutes after i first did the search. Upon reading some questions people posted to the auction, i see that the seller says over and over that these wheels will fit older pre-997 models. I did get a great deal, however, do any of you know if these wheels will even fit my car without looking funny?? I'm less concerned about the 1/2 inch higher in the wheel size then i am in the width, making them stick out the sides. thanks everyone. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8062876762

POST 2Original post

Yes those will fit no prob....here are pics of mine with 997 sport design, they are the same offsets and same tires....my car is lowered with PSS9's pretty aggressively and the tires fit with no rubbing....the extra wide rears makes the car stick to the road quite well....

POST 3Original post

You got a sweetheart deal. I've been looking for the same. Seen them go for upwards of $2500.

POST 4Original post

You will probably want to add some spacers since the offset on those 997 wheels is not the same as the 996. 996 offsets sit further away. Don't be surprised if they look like they should be further out.....cuz they should.

POST 5Original post

the fronts are the same offsets....the rears are not, BUT they are one inch wider....they are the same offsets in the rear as the 996 GT3mk II....the only difference is the GT3 had 1/2" wider wheels in the front...

POST 6Original post

The fronts are NOT the same. The 996 fronts are 8 et50 so putting on a 8 et57 would be the equivalent of a -7mm. Not good! The rears of 11 et67 would be like ADDING 11mm to the rear so I am sure the rears would look great.

POST 7Original post

I spoke with the guys at Wheel enhancement about adding the Carrera S 19s to my 99 C2 996 They recomended 1/2in spacers and longer lugs.

POST 10Original post

5mm is not the same as 1/2" (12.5mm). 5mm spacers on the front wheels will still be too small. But regardless you will need longer matching bolts.

POST 11Original post

I agree 5mm is not that muct...10mm or 15mm depending on the look you want.....I thought my stock fronts were a little narrow as well.....
