After reading all the posts about a PPI being required for any pre-owned purchase I have a question. For the purchase of a 2002 cab from a Porsche dealer (with an OK reputation) would it be foolish to spend the money to have a highly respected independent also do a PPI? I think the dealer with provide a CPO warranty upon my request (and probably cost).

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

You def want an outside ppi done, most dealers won't have an issue with it and probably have done it on several occasions.
Has anyone ever done a PPI to a dealer car..? thought the dealer would never allow it... did you put a deposit down first?
Take it to one of the 'independant' Porsche maintenance shops. I wouldn't trust a dealer. Heard local horror stories, also involving 'reputable' dealers. 250$ is a small amount to pay for some extra insurance.
