Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Take a look at Carnewal.com. Click in Interior then click on P96 . They have 6 shifters that could work for you. Make sure you look at the two in the very top line that a listed as Alu/Leather and Carbon/Leather . Below that they have 4 other shifters listed. Hope this helps.

I love the carbon fiber one on the Suncoast site.
Also try Sunset Imports, typically excellent prices.
+1 for Suncoast
I like that Alcantara 3-spoke steering wheel from Suncoast. I wonder if they sell a matching Alcantara airbag or if I have to get a black one which will not look to good.
Thanks Gents !
I upgraded my shifter this year to the carbon. Looks great and is a wonderful improvement over the base stock unit. Fairly easy to swap out too. While at it I also added B&M SSK and several other carbon pieces to match. Here's a pic!
Here's one I got off of Ebay.
I installed this one on my 03 C4S with matching handbrake. I got both from Suncoast. I would not say cheap but they are Factory Porsche parts. Dont buy the ones from performance products! They are not as pictured in the catalouge.
John H - That is the ONE I was looking for amigo - Can you forward me the Part# and whatever info you have ? Thanks again.
I was thinking of changing my shift **** as well, is the shift lever a special width? Will a universal **** (like MOMO) fit?
I have this ****/Brake handle in my 996 and I really like the look and feel, also had it in my Boxster S. Suncoast sells it in the Aluminum, CF and wood, It has the colored Porsche crest in it.
Just completed this conversion a couple months ago. Date of picture should be 2008, not 2007. BLACK Alcantara shot in the early morning sunrise will never look like gloss black leather. It's just a light reflectivity thing. Sitting behind the wheel, the black leather in the airbag is not that much different in hue from the Alcantara. Gemballa USA supplied the steering wheel and shifter. Airbag assembly came from DPS Motorsports. My experience with both companies was good. Installation of the steering wheel and aibag assembly was given to Brumos Porsche, in order to prevent inadvertant deployment of the airbag by myself. I did the exchange of shifter and boot myself in about 45 seconds in the driveway. No tools were used or abused in that installation. Snap out, snap in.
That's what I want to do for my 993. Too bad the shifter won't fit.
