It makes a rattling noise when I'm driving and it goes away when I press on it. If I could remove it, I could probably find the source and do something about it. Does it just pull off?

Very simple: Pull the front towards you, then slide a skinny screwdriver underneath into the small hole and push up. It then comes off. The A/C vent it is attached to then comes out with 2 torx screws. The left one is easy to see, the right one is accessible once the light switch is pulled off.
