Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thought I'd say hello and introduce myself after just picking up my 04 Atlas Grey 996 . Started the odyssey with an 02 Boxster S, then an 05 Boxster S. Arrival of a baby got me thinking 996 or 997. Found my 04 with a year left of factory warranty and then 2 years CPO and jumped. So far so good - loving the car after coveting 911s for a long time. Getting used to the change in weight and feel after driving two Boxsters with PSM. In any event here's the obligatory pic: sdemw .....

Nice ride. It's amazing how many people by the 996 because they have a baby that needs to ride along too. That was the case with me also. The ultimate family car!

Money pit indeed - New MBQuarts for the dash on order, snow tires / rims enroute and already tired of the standard shift feel. As with both Boxsters I'll get the short shift kit put in soon. RE Boxster / 911: Overall the boxster was a sharper instrument in many respects, great weight & power balance that you could really push around. As much as I loved both the 986 and 987 they always felt low on power and now I realize slightly less engaging. The extra power and the configuration of the 911 make it feel both more substantial and serious. I feel like I'm needing to be far more focused on the movement of the weight around the corners and what the wheel is telling me. Items that the boxster was good at communicating but that you got limited rewards for understanding. Fundamentally different beasts, both incredible cars, near perfect for their intended purpose. But totally different in personality.

Great looking car! Post some pics in the sun so we can see the color if you please. Does it have PSE? If not, have that installed and you won't care what kind of speakers you have.

Ya, as others have said, GREAT CAR! Always good to get a warranty, too. Thanks for the comparison between the Boxt/911.
