Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took a hard left and a hard right getting on to an on ramp. The next few times I started the car oil smoke billowed out of both exhaust pipes. The smoke has not returned and the car is not noticably consuming oil. I've taken some fast turns since, but no esses and no smoke. The car has 24,000 mi and starts, idles and runs well. Any ideas as to what happened?

POST 2Original post

symptoms are common... but I would watch how much oil your burning/miles. Porsche says 1 quart in 600 miles is within spec... welcome to RL PICS or BAN

POST 3Original post

I have seen that happening to people who overfill their cars with oil, make sure that the level is not above the MAX mark.

POST 4Original post

Totally normal, especially after spirited driving. Do a search with the keyword smoke. There are some funny threads on it.

POST 5Original post

Happened to me and another guy between sessions at a DE last year. I was *not* overfilled with oil. Annoying, but common...or is that annoyingly common. No real consensus on cause, and it doesn't hapen to all cars. My oil consumption otherwise is normal to minimal. Don't worry about it....there's nothing you can do at any rate. Whatever you do don't stop driving the car spiritedly. That would be a sign of weakness.

POST 6Original post

Happened to me while on track at VIR last year. Scared the crap out of me - started thinking about how I was going to tell the wife how much a reman engine was going to run. Hasn't happened since. Now, big puffs upon start-up while at the track... that's a much more frequent occurrence.

POST 7Original post

So this puff the magic dragon stuff doesn't happen with the GT1 engine GT3?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for your comments. I may have been slightly overfilled.
