Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've noticed that my 911 shifts much better with the 3 to 4000 rpm range. It's a much smoother process, however, the preferred shifting range is between 2 and 3000. Just wondering what is your average range. Cheers and safe driving

POST 2Original post

I like it best at 5,000......vroom, vrooom! But most of the time, I'm between 3 and 4.

POST 3Original post

redline. One of the rewards of a finely balanced engine.

POST 4Original post

4500 - 5000 for me which probably explains why my gas mileage is so poor.

POST 6Original post

Depends on how I am driving. Normally around 3500 - 5000. Needless to say my gas mileage is not the best (sidebar...never above 3800 prior to the everything achieving proper operating temperature).

POST 7Original post

Until the engine warms up, around 3,500. Once warmed up, 5,000 - 7,000, and PSE sings!

POST 8Original post

Redline is past the max torque curve for upshifting!

POST 9Original post

Normal driving - usually upshift 3500-4500 (always warm the engine before pushing it at all). But for the first time today (finally past 1,000 miles), I hit it in second and shifted at 7000 - wahoo!!. Where do you guys cruise? I find I usually keep it up near 4000 - which probably explains my poor gas milage.

POST 10Original post

ditto...except for long interstate drives where the rpms will depend on speed as I drive in 6th.

POST 11Original post

yeah, but it's still in line with the fun curve!
