Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Please help a 10 yr RLer. A very close female friend (not SO) is looking for her first Porsche. She's in ChiTown area. Looking for an 02-04 tip cab, really wants black/black, but exterior more important than interior (told her she's nuts, heat wise on the interior). Yes, I've scoured Autotrader, Cars.com, etc., and she's following up on 1 or 2 possibilities. I've told her that she should "prefer" a private vs dealer deal and since I have had great success buying and selling P-cars from/to RLer's, thought I'd give it a shout out here. IMS/RMS work performed a plus. Up to 60k miles. Low 30ish budget. PM me with any leads--will provide finder's fee for the right car for her to buy. TIA. V. Larson

Did the exact same search last year ast year. Took patience, a lot of travel and about 9 months to find one I liked (see pic). Mine had 42,000 and cost $27K. A great deal to be sure, low/mid 30s was typical. But frankly, I probably spent a thousand dollars (and hours) or so on related travel. I looked at more than a dozen cabs 2001-04 in all parts of the country. Made it part of my business travel. I will keep my eyes open -- but here are a few tips based on my experience. I'm sure others may disagree with some of these points. Just 1-man's experience. * There are of course far more of these cars in the warm weather states -- no surprise there. But I found the Midwest was stronger overall from a cost standopint (-$2,500 ish) in terms of mileage v/model year. There seems to be a greater cost "penalty" on model year rather vs. mileage in the market overall. I wouldn't shy away from a car in the South by any means, but that's just my experience. * For many in the Midwest, these cars tend to be summer drivers and somewhat more coddled as a result. That's a significant generalization, of course, but I found that they were typically fewer-owner cars and had more service records etc... * The big issue -- the top. Early 2000ish cars that have been in the South/daily drivers or and/or not garaged or properly at this point often had tops that were starting to go -- or at least really fading. You may need to factor that $2,000+ cosmetic upgrade into the equation as well. Again, less an issue in the regions where the car is garaged for 6 months a year. * Never saw an IMS upgraded car for sale. Hope this helps!

You've got mail. Found 2, one's a 2001, the other 2002. Good luck!
