Hi Everyone, I'm new to the board so I thought I'd introduced myself (along with my question). I've got a '99 Cab, Wimbeldon Green and it's the greatest thing the hand of man has ever created. I've had it since September and I'm ready to start a couple required mods. Right now it's got the A/C controls on top, tape deck, then the tape holder and then the storage bin. I went to pick out a nav unit today and the salesman told me it has to be mounted on the bottom half. I guess where the tape holder and storage bin are now. He says there's no room in the top half of the horseshoe to put the NAV in. Can that be right?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

It can be done, you just move the HVAC controls down to the front center console. Some pics here of Newports '99: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/s...d.php?t=109838 don't let the pics fool you, it IS a 99 model.

Did you buy Bill Gates' old car? Never mind; welcome to the club and btw, I like your car's color; as you said: "The greatest thing the hand of man has ever created."
Can be done...All you need is the AC control surround trim piece. The wires are long enough to move You don't even have to make new holes. Here is a pic
Thanks guys! I'm going to take this to the shop and hopefully he can do it properly for me. Hwk72 - I like your color as well. Here in Boca, every p-car is either red, black or silver. I do think I'm actually in love with my car. It's the most fun on four wheels you can legally have. (Ignore the hardtop in the photo, it's been wrapped up and on a pallet in the garage since the first day I got it.)
Here is my conversion

Could you please tell me what in what order the color plugs go into the central locking, rear defrost and convertible top switches? I fugure you might know if you installed your own headunit. I am trying to figure this out. Thanks!
