Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't think this is a problem, but I have made an observation that seems to occur quite frequently. If I accelerate (doesn't seem to matter which gear) with moderate to high acceleration it seems like there is a boost of power/acceleration that hits right around 3,000 rpm. Does anyone else notice this? I have an 02 C4 Cab.

POST 2Original post

It should kick in around 4200rpm since thats when the engine opens up.

POST 3Original post

Yes. Its the variable valve timing doing its thing. Normal.

POST 4Original post

For '02 and up, it's both a change in the variocam and ignition timing, usually around 3200 rpm. There is also a subtle change in the exhaust note, more evident with PSE. The surge is usually most evident on a gentle acceleration, less on WOT. So, stop being a wuss and floor that sucker!!!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Excellent. I'm glad that others have noticed this too. Thanks for the info!!

POST 8Original post

Exactly correct! This is when the bigger lobes of the cam kicks in for extra power and torque delivery in the higher RPMs.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
