Hi guys. My rear tires are at the end of their life. My car brings Michelin Pilot Sport PS1 N1. They are N specifications tires by Porsche. The sizes are: - front = 225/40 R18 - rear = 285/30 R18 The brands with N specs by Porsche are: - Muchelin PS1 N1 (the same I have) . I heat them. They are very noisy and began to be rather hard as glassy. - Continental Sport Contact 2 N2 (I like them, good compromise) - Pirelli P-Zero (Don't want them) - Bridgestone S02 (great tires. Be carefully not to mount "S02A") My question is... I read in this forum lots of users who mounted Non N-specs tires. What can you tell me about them? steering response, treadwear, cornering stability, noise comfort... What is your experience? All of you know that N specs tires have a reinforced sidewall with diferent compound and internal contruction. They are designed to hold the rear train of a 911. A Porsche 911 is a diferent car and needs the best engineering desing. What can you recomend me in Non N specs tires? (brand , etc)

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yes, try the Yokohama Advan Neovas or Sports.
Sorry to correct you, but the Brigdestones Potenza SO2A are N-spec tires (N3 actually).
Thanks. I know it but S02 N2 are much better than S02A N3 Lots of www.soloporsche.com users told that S02A don't work properly, and everybody is trying to purchase S02 N2
I've responded to questions like this in the past. If you do a search you can probably find some of those posts. But since those earlier posts, I have tried some other tires... First, keep the following in mind. I use my car as a daily driver and I do not track it (I have a 1999 C2 Cab). So my requirements for a tire might be different than yours. I'm concerned mostly with tread life/cost. Here are the tires I've used: * Bridgestone S02 - Gets noisy as the treads wear. Tread wear is poor. Handling was very nice. If I ever track my car I will likely get a set of these. I will not use these for my daily street use. * Kumho Ecsta ??? - Can't remember the model. I had two rear side wall failures with this tire. And that was just on normal highway driving. I will not use these again. Search for my previous posts for the exact model. * Bridgestone RE750 - Great street tire. Tread wear is great. Low noise. I will likely buy these again. * Michelin Pilot Sport A/S - This is what I'm currently using. So far so good. Tread wear so far is looking good. I've had them on for probably 8000 miles or so. Why do I have Pilot Sports when I said I like the RE750's? Good question! I had RE750's installed and got a puncture in one of my rears. I took my car back to the store to cash in on the free replacement warranty. When I got there, they told me they no longer carry Bridgestones, they are now a Michelin shop. After two hours and working my way up three levels of management, I worked out the following deal. I'll pay for one new Michelin tire and they will give me three new ones for free! So I'm now trying out the Pilot Sport A/S. -- larry
Thnaks uplarry and everybody. I talked to my Porsche friends, and all of them told me to mount N spec tires. They cost the same and have a reinforced sidewall. Continental Sport Contac 2 N2 are very good on handling and tread wear with a very interesting price (330 $ each)
I purchased Michelin Pilot Sport Ribbed. I ordered from Tire Rack and they were delivered to my door - much cheaper than what any dealer could sell them for. They are quieter than my continentals. Not sure how long they will last, but I like em. A nearby tire shop had the special tire bead tool to put them on my rims, and installed them for under $100.00. Wow, the sound of those tire beads popping on the 18" rims was like gunfire! I am sticking to N spec rubber. It's a sure thing - Porsche recommends it, and they probably know the reasons why.
