I have a 03 targa. I just noticed that there is an orange light above the mirror that seems to stay on all the time. Is that normal?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

That should go off after a certain time, although it is longer than most other cars. I think that's lit together with the one by the door handle, they're LED's.
I have had the car for a few months and just never notice it staying on so long. I will check it in the morning. Thanks jeff
Jeff - Welcome to Rennlist. Those are courtesy lights. There are also some on the front of the interior door handles. They will stay illuminated about 2 to 2-1/4 hours if the car is left unlocked . Additionally, there should be a hole in your dome light assembly lense that would allow you to insert a small screw driver and to access a "push pin" toggle switch to get them dimmer or brighter. Push it once, the light brightness changes. Push it again the brightness reverts to the original setting. There is only a moderate difference between dim and bright settings. It is customary for "newbies" to post pics and tell us a little about their P-car. You can post a pic once you have reached 5 posts. Again, welcome.
I noticed this on my '03 996 as well. Broke out the owners manual and it stated that these (there is one in the front of the driver's door handle as well) are called "orientation lights". They are light emitting diodes. The manual further states that they "are switched on when the car is unlocked and switched off when the car is locked" . No indication is given as to a time period. I left my car unlocked overnight and sure enough they were still on the next morning so they must be an incredibly low current draw. As soon as I locked it they went out.
They are actualy for orientation. They're explained in your manual. The engineers put them in to help driver be more aware of the car orientation in emergencies.
