This story has a happy ending. Last Friday I was leaving Hooters after lunch (this story also has a happy beginning) and when I unlocked the doors on the 996, the electric locks unlocked on both sides, but the drivers side door handle would not open the door. It moved the window up and down, but would not actually trip the trigger inside. Passenger door was fine, and the inside driver's door handle opened the door normally. Fortunately for me I had a passenger to help make the entry easy. I immediately called Brumos Porsche Service and told them what was happenening, and they said bring it over and they would look at it. When I arrived 30 minutes later, Charles Loeschen (Service Advisor) already had the paperwork ready to sign, took my key, and drove the car immediately back into the service bays. I wandered into Parts to look at all the goodies for a couple minutes and Buddy Kennedy came to the window and gave me their new 2009 Brumos calendar. Free, of course. Thank you, Buddy! Then I wandered up front to the new cars, and although nobody gave me a free Porsche, I was treated like family as usual and everyone was extremely friendly, befitting the day after Christmas. In less than 30 minutes total, I was told my car was ready. And it was. It was waiting for me in the delivery bay, and everything was brand new again. Inside the door, there is a plastic sleeve on one of the internal levers and time had taken its toll on the plastic. Brumos had one in stock, slipped it on, and everything in my life was wonderful again. They charged me less than the cost of a 2009 Porsche factory-issue calendar, and I was off and driving. Thank you Charles! Thank you Buddy! And Thank You Brumos for being the best dealer in the country!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Nice to hear a dealer story like that, even more glad that it was minor!
Let's see - a guy who drives a 20' weinermobile heading in to Hooters for lunch. I guess if you've got it, flaunt it!!
