Porsche has just released information about the 997 C4 and C4S cars. You can view the press release in the 997 forum. Overall the 997 4S loses many of the traditional styling cues from previous generation cars, and is undifferentiated from the C4, except for a more powerful engine. However, it is also 44mm wider, and can fit 305-30ZR-19 tires, which is wider than the 295 tires used in the 996 C4S. Does anyone know if this means that overall the 997 4S models are wider than the 996 C4S? Woohoo! To my admittedly biased eyes, the 996 C4S is still a more beautifully styled car. Ryan

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think they blew it on the styling...I like my 996 better
Agree they blew it!... The 996 C4S has visceral looks and great styling. The 997 C4S just looks extremely bland and doesn't inspire the senses like the 996 C4S does. This should be great news for 996 C4S owners... it will keep their cars highly desired and perhaps slow down their depreciation... I hope!
A nice wing would fix that. I love the pronounced hips of the 997s
The 997 C4S needs the signature body-width rear reflector strip (or whatever it's called). I love that touch on the 996 C4S. Yep, they blew it on the styling...
I'd hit it....
993 butt... oops wrong forum. Rob
1978 930...wrong again!
As a friend of mine always says... "its all good"!
Add one more to the mix please. Baby got back!
I love my 996...but I really like the 4S!!
will be interseting to see them in person to see if the widebody really has an effect. its difficult to tell in pictures without telltale signs, like the red strip.
wicked shot Rasta! You almost need a wide angle lens for these cars - love them.
Many thanks Cpa4S. Great minds think alike . Basalt rocks!!

Looks-wise: 996 > 993 > 964 > 997
notwithstanding that the whole darn thing is entirely a personal subjective preference, i have to suggest that pic's like that can perhaps move it somewhat closer to the objective
