Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Okay so I took the car out FINALLY the weather is decent. And aired her out and that front end again is not to stable. I have my spare tire out, and now cant find the bracket that it hangs onto. I was going to put it in the trunk wo the bracket but it might move all ova which isnt good. I remember reading someone went to Home Depot and got something for their house and put it in the trunk and WALLA car handled like a C4S. (Not Really) What would be the safest thing I could throw in the trunk to keep that front end down (i.e nothing that would smell or harm the carpet) Home Depot might be useful to me after all hehe Also I need spacers on my rims at 7mm would that be a issue to?

OK, so dead hooker is out... Um, perhaps a round barbell weight?

POST 4Original post

Did you ever get around to installing the aftermarket Turbo-look front bumper? If the front-end instability is happening at high speeds then it might be a dodgy front bumper causing lift instead of downforce.

Yea I got the Turbo Bumper installed. But its OEM. Haha I like the dead hooker. I like a flat weight in there, I would have never thought of it

POST 7Original post

Since people empty their trunks for track days--it's probably not a weight issue.

That's what I was thinking. If you have to ADD weight to correct a handling issue, something's wrong. My front end feels pretty light, too--even for a C4--but I've always thought "Duh, silly, the engine is in the rear!"

POST 9Original post

Please don't flame me for this.... I have about 65lbs of audio amps and cable in the front bonnet of my car. Both of my buddies are PCA instructors and SCCA national champs. They, and everyone else, trip out that my car is so damn stable and smooth over 115 mph. I do have the JRZ race suspension which adds an unfair advantage but one of my buddies went to home depot and grabbed a sixty pound bag of sand to mirror the result. He is on PS9's and swears it did the job. I rode in his car and it was great at speed. It's not for everyone I know. You may want to look at something that will give you more down force like a lower lip or different valance but the amps work for me and the sand worked for him.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well im going to throw a free weight in there prob 50lbs or so it will sit flush and can still put stuff in there. Ill keep you guys posted on it. And yea I did think the same thing DUH the engine is in the rear haha

POST 11Original post

Have you done any alignment lately? I had similar problems which were solved, my camber was way off when I bought it.

POST 12Original post

I think it's the stock suspension. It's just plain floaty because Porsche did not design the car around the US higher bumper specs. My first plan this new year (yes, I said as much last year but things got in the way) is to upgrade to the RoW.

POST 13Original post

All of the light/floating feeling in the front end went away with RoW here too.

POST 14Original post

I've felt that the car does get "floaty" at 100+ on the track. What at about a GT3 front lip? It wouldn't add much extra weight but could solve the light feeling at speed.

Can you attach a GT3 front lip to a regular Carrera front bumper and if yes, would it sit at the right position?

That's a great link - thanks! I'll probably try to add a spoiler lip to my C2 '00 stock bumper to stabilize the car at higher speeds. It seems that the GT3 Cup Front Splitter works (part# 996 505 986 90).
