Hi all. I've been lurking around here since before I bought my 02 Cab back in July. I figured it was finally time to post a pic. This site has a wealth of information & I did a lot of research here before I finally pulled the trigger, so thanks to all of you for the informative discussions (including all the fun IMS stuff - )

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Welcome to Rennlist, and congrats on the terrific looking cab.
Thanks for the kind words. I was looking for a long time before I purchased & when the seal-gray cab came up 5 miles from my house I knew it was THE one for me.
Welcome! Lots of good stuff and good folks here.
Hey, I apologize for missing this when you initially posted, I must have been traveling. Welcome to P-Car ownership and RL. You will love it. I live in Oak Park too. Let me know if you ever need anything around town.
Hey Alan - good to see another 911 in Oak Park. Not a ton of them around these parts. I do have a question for you - not sure if you've ever had an easycare warranty, but I'm on the verge of shelling out for one. My car is an 02, so the door on warranties closes at the end of next week & I'd like a little piece of mind. Any thoughts?
Sorry, I've never used an aftermarket warranty. I think plenty of people around here will tell you that a warranty on a P-Car is well worth it. I'm sure others will chime in with more direct experience, but I would just make sure they cover repairs at an authorized Porsche dealer (or the repair shop of YOUR choice, there are a lot good independents around Chicago).
s_kelley, You may want to search. I found a couple of threads discussing aftermarket warranties. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...arranties.html https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...periences.html https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...any-ideas.html Let us know what you decide.
Very nice car there s_kelly. I'm new here too and it is a great site for info.
Thanks for the links & for the compliments. Based on previous posts, it looks like they are pretty good about actually paying out on claims. After agonizing over length of warranty vs. breadth of coverage I went with the easycare 'total care' 3/36. It's bumper to bumper. Some of their lower warranties list what's covered, but the Total Care there is no list. Just a list of excluded wear items like brakes, tires, clutch, wipers and situations like "snow plowing, fleet vehicle, fire, riot etc". At $3500 it wasn't exactly cheap, but great peace of mind for the next 3 years. For everyone else out there whose primary worry is a certain bearing grenading their engine, a basic powertrain warranty can be had from these guys for about half of what I paid.
