Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking at buying a 99 C4 cabrio. I am going from a 2.5 Boxster. The C4 is in amazing condition with a Porsche factory warranty, anything to look for with this model? How does the 3.4 hold up, it will be used as my commuter car. Thanks....

POST 2Original post

Hi, I would look for a full service record, including what things were fixed that seem to typically break on these cars (RMS, coolant bootle, etc). Also, inquire about relatively how much the car squeaks and rattles. My car will make some strange squeaks when I'm putting down the top or driving with the top up, but even that is not too bad. I've been in some Cabs that sounded like a symphony of squeaks and rattles though! Also, I've had the gear shift linkage on my car go twice. Overall I'm happy with my car but, the most frustrating thing for me is the cost of tires. ;-) I don't know if it's the way I drive (wink) but I go through a set of rears about every 4-5K miles. Good luck! P.S. I think the rennlist spell checker should know what "RMS" is by now...

Thanks...drove it already and NO RATTLES or SQUEEKS! I was amazed. I have a Boxster now so I know about the sqeeking and rattling isse. It was actually more quiet than an '02 c2 coupe I drove! I will look at the service records, and I am getting a factory 2 year warranty as well, so I have some peace of mind.
