Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Try Rock Auto? I'm sure somebody refurbs them. What is the Porsche cost?
I got mine at Advance Autoparts. I whines a little more than the original one, but otherwise works fine. I should have taken it back right after I first installed it (a piece of cake after 3 or 4 times) and insisted on one that doesn't whine.... JP
contact Suncoast Edit: ahhhh shiiiiii List is like $1530.52 USD... Dame why is it soooooo Expensive?
There are alot of Porsche OEM parts, like alternators, starters, MAF's, etc. that list for unbelievable prices. Most of them you can get aftermarket, often by the same manufacturer that Porsche sources them from, for less than half of the Porsche price. Do google searches by the part number and you will find lots of sources. Also try places like Drivewire.com, partsgeek.com, autoanything.com.
John, you know Autozone has a lifetime warranty (yes, lifetime) alternator for about $180!!? Get two so you're always stocked! That's the 3.6 part, yours may be the same. A new voltage regulator is only $60 and takes a few minutes to replace.
I had my factory unit rebuilt for $150 at Cal Alternator in Harbor City.
autopartswarehouse has a rebuilt Bosch semi cheap. You have to send your alternator in for the 100 core refund. Local fix sounds better seeing many stock the parts.
