Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had to visit the dealer today and as I was wandering around the showroom I came across something that was covered with a black cloth. My friendly salesperson offerred to take the cover off and low and behold a Cayman was sitting there. This particular vehicle was a Silver Gray Color with Black leather interior. While he did not offer to let me drive it, I was able to get inside. Very similar interior to the 997 but it was too small for me (6'4". 225) to be comfortable in. I liked it in person much more than in the photos I have seen. I was able to drive an 05 Carrera S and while it was nice to drive a new car, I saw or felt nothing that would have me trade up from my 03 C4 Cab. I did learn that there is a Turbo S Cayenne about to make it's debut with somewhere north of 515 HP from the factory. The Cayman is much better looking that a Boxster but I will stick with my C4 for the moment as it is roomier. I also tried to sit in a Carrera GT but that was not going to happen. Happy Holidays to All!!

POST 4Original post

I saw a Cayman @ Rockville Porsche a few days ago. It had a price sticker that showed around $60k with options, and a big PCNA stamp across it announcing it was not for sale. It did look nice, but it didn't catch my breath especially at that price!

Each dealer is supposed to receive one Cayman "For Show ONLY", not for sale. Very strict rules from PCNA. Keep the car under cover, to be viewed only by invitation and only to "serious prospective buyers", to be driven only by the salesperson and NOT by the buyer, and be driven only within the confines of the dealership lot and not on public roads. Quite hilarious what marketing people will do as a gimmick to hype up a car. Cay-ute, the Porsche message is that you are now one of the "priviledged few" to view and sit in the early release Cayman . I joined the ranks last weekend. They did something simillar with the Cayenne, but not as widespread. For that one, the dealerships had a large crate, big enough to hold the Cayenne, sit in the showroom, emblazoned with the Porsche logo, with Cayenne banners all over the place. You were not allowed to look inside the crate until the official release date. Good thing you werent allowed to take a peek, 'cuz the crates were empty .
