I was reading the old posts but I can not figure this out. For owners of 2002 cars with the factory sport exhaust installed is there a control installed that allows you to close the bypass valve as you wish and control when the sports exhaust sound works? Also is it true that the exhaust automatically cuts out between 25 and 50 as European production cars do?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the factory sport exhaust on my 02 C4S. There is an after-market kit with a switch that hooks into the PSM and eliminates the cut-out at between 25mph and, I believe, 40to45mph. My understanding is that in Germany there are strict noise regulations in residential areas, which explains the speed range. You might try a search of this site or the funcarsonline site for the post. Sounds like a good idea. If I had the kit I would leave it in sport exhaust mode. A truly nasty sound that seems to have gotten better after a couple of thousand miles!
