I posted this over on the GT3 forum and I thought I would cross post it here. I know there are cheaper ones on the market but I would place this hood up there with Porsche quality. Some of you guys might be interested in this. I have contacted the guy that made some of the Porsche Rolex hoods and fenders for the 996 race cars. He has agreed to make some hoods for me. These are top quality carbon parts made of 100% carbon (yes I know ebay ads say the same thing), they weigh in at 9.75 lbs per hood and will come with all the correct hardware mounting points ready to be installed. The fitment of the hood will be just like installing a hood from Porsche. No extra work needed to install properly or anything. This thing is strong too. All the factory cross bracing underneath the hood is retained. What I am looking for here is to see how many of you guys would be interested in the hood. The current price is going to be around $1600. He has only given me an estimate at this point. Pictures are below of the current hood he has made. This one is from the race molds so it has the marks in it for the fuel holes, hood pins, and Porsche emblem. The top finish on this one is race quality but the ones he is going to make for this deal will be street quality. High Quality pictures

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Out of curiosity, do you know the weight of an OEM factory hood to compare weights? It's not my taste, but if I were racing then lighter weight would be of interest.
Folks, I can vouch for this. Seth and I have been talking about doing this for some time. His carbon fiber guy is UNREAL. For weight, yes...significant savings while likely retaining structural rigidity. This is a VERY nice piece. Makes me want my old 996 back. C.
