Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just a quick introduction to the 996 forums. I had a 964 and sold it to a fellow Rennlister a couple years back and it has since been sold again to "Cobalt" where he has added it to his extensive collection of intersting P-cars. Not a day goes by when I do not regret letting my first Porsche go so after much deliberation on what to replace it with I have purchased a 2003 996 C4S. I am awaiting delivery so I do not have any pics except for the ones posted by the previous owner in his listing. I will post pics as soon as I can so please cut me a little slack until then. It is Artic Sliver over Black w/ 28K miles and I will be the third owner. Looking forward to becoming an active member of this forum. Regards, Ken

Here is a shot of my 964 before it was sold...

POST 4Original post

Congrats! I just bought my C4S recently as well. We need more pictures! ///Michael

POST 5Original post

Ken, welcome to the 996 Forum! Great looking C4S. Thanks for posting the pic. Let the mods begin!

POST 6Original post

welcome back. Beautiful C4S. I see sport techno wheels, any other mods/options? I have loved mine - wonderful car - and have found a ton of car club / auto-x stuff to do around Houston. In fact there is a SCCA autocross today as well as PCA concours in Seabrook. Also, check out urbanspeed.com, I don't want to be the only C4S there!

Thanks for the welcome guys... Here is another pic from the listing

POST 8Original post

So the 964 went to Anthony in NJ.... if it is, Ive seen the 964 transformed into a nice track setup... Congrats and welcome to 996... you did well by posting pics

POST 9Original post

Welcome, nice looking car, great low miles...hope you drive it in good health and it treats you well Ed

POST 10Original post

Ken, Beautiful ride and great pictures! Welcome back - IMHO the 996 has more aesthetic lines than the 964 (likely to get disagreements...) I just picked up my '01 Cab several weeks ago and it only came with one key - I've been meaning to run off and get another key made, lest I lose the one I have and end up with a $40K sculpture in the garage... which really didn't bother me as much as it should... Congrats and welcome! Rudy -------------------------------------- '01 Arctic Silver/Black C2 Cabriolet '03 Silver F-150 Supercrew

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Malakas.... The car is stock (no mods) 6-Speed manual According to the option decoder this is what I have come up with as far as options: 288 Headlight washer 288 996: Light washers 601 Litronic Headlights 680 Digital Sound X97 Aluminium/leather shift **** X98 Aluminium/leather parking break handle XSC 996: Crest on Headrest XRC 18" Sport Techno Wheel Does anyone know what option "XRN" is... it is not recognized by the decoder? Redridge... That is correct, my 964 wound up with Anthony via Gary R and was highly modded by both of them.

Beautiful choice! Welcome to the forum and the C4S fraternity!

POST 17Original post

Very nice! Looks brand new. Since you can't drive it yet? Oh well, guess you'll just have to go out to the garage every hour or so to just look at her sitting there. Like the rest of do...

POST 18Original post

Beautiful C4S - use it well. Silver's a great color on the car!

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Jugger... I just bought the C4S and it is in transit from Florida to Texas so I have yet to actually drive it. Thanks for the welcome Pongobaz. I really like the Atlas Grey Phil G.

POST 20Original post

Very nice! Just went from a 964 to a 996 GT3 myself. Enjoy the new ride!

Tough comparison IMO. Two different cars from two different periods. I think both the 964 and 996 have their own strengths AND weaknesses to their design, and I appreciate both individually. Then again I may be a bit biased, as I own both.

POST 22Original post

Congratulations! I think you'll fall in love with the C4S too - such a beautiful car. Bob

POST 23Original post

Ken, welcome to the 996 world. I went from an '87 to my '02 and it is quite a change. The 996 is a great car, but honestly I sometimes miss the old one still. I wouldn't swap them, but I'd love to have both!

Agree that it's a tough comparison - I really like the lines of any car in this lineage, all the way back to the 356 (the first p-car I ever noticed)... Once I get my wife used to having the 996 we just got, I'd like to find an old 964, fundamentally sound but in slight disrepair, to bring back to life.
