Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have noticed a small oil leak landing by the rear left wheel. On closer inspection it looks like it coming from the top of the shock absorber area. Does anyone have an idea how serious/expensive this could be? 1999, C4 996 112K

Consider it a blessing that it's from the struts instead of the engine. It may be a good time to purchase a set of ROW struts for your 996.

POST 3Original post

just means it's time for replacement / upgrade.

POST 4Original post

+1 on the ROW M030 suspension upgrade. About $1,100.

POST 5Original post

If you have 112K mi. on the original shocks then they are ready to go. Time for a replacement and I think you will be amazed at how well your car will ride once the new shocks are on. I've never heard of them lasting that long.

Has the same problem on my wife's 986 at 90,000 miles - both rear shocks were leaking. Replaced with new Bilstein shocks - car feels great now - didn't realize how much the suspension had deteriorated over time.
