I should have known. Here's the deal. I have wanted to be back in a Porsche of some time. My previous car was 1998 BMW M3 that was completely (and I mean completely) gone through to make into a track beastie. I worked hard to get it right. To fit properly, I put Recaro Speed (5 point) seats so I could have ample clearance for my helmet and track conditions. After a couple years, some guy offers me $$$ and I sell the M3 and buy my 996. At first, the room in the 996 surprised me. I knew about the console delete and smaller steering options. Did them right away. Now...legroom and head room are almost identical to the M3 before I put the Recaros in. Excited I start looking into some Sparco Evo II's (I want to be comfortable). Upon talking with Speedware motorsports, Evo II's don't fit in the car. *schit* Okay what other options do I have? GT3 Porsche seats. So...this weekend I go to the local DE at Gateway and get a chance to sit in them. Very comfortable, but I lose a schit load of room. Now, mind you...the seats were on the stock brackets, and not on the Brey Krause modified ones. But do I really want to spend $2500+ on seats? I don't think so. ...all of a sudden, I wish I still had my tricked M3 again. Someone please tell me that there is a nice Sparco seat that fits me AND my 996. I am dying to take this car to the track. Chad

Chad, I heard that the Sparco Evo IIs do fit, but require a panel to be trimmed (I'm guessing B pillar?). It has been done. I sat in the Sparco Evo IIs back to back with the GT3 seats. I consider the Sparcos to be notably more comfortable, but I'm not sure I'm up for fitment hell, and I would like to keep leather (I think Sparcos only come in cloth which I'd have to have recovered). I figger I'd spend as much, have marginal resale, and fitment of the seats sucks. Will the Brey's give you enough clearance? Let me know how it works out.
Fraido - you are correct, the base of the b-pillar needs trimming. The measurement from the tunnel to the b-pillar base is 19.5". Yep..that's snug. I'm working the BK route. I'll keep you posted. Chad
