Hey guys, If you've installed one of those separate XM units like the 'Roady' model or the older Delphi model would you mind taking some pics to show where you mounted it in the interior? I would like to get a movable unit like that but I just can't see any good locations to mount it where it is accessible and doesn't get in the way. Alternately....what is a decent head unit that includes XM, CD/MP3 and matches the interior reasonably well (particularly colour). (Installed pics would be nice here too if you have them) In my last car I had an Alpine CDA-9830 but the bright green/blue lighting was very distracting against orange dash illumination. Thanks, Keith

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Alpine now makes a CD Head Unit with a built in XM receiver, so there is no need for an external unit. I believe Crutchfield is selling it for $350.00. That's what I would do if I were you. IMHO. Mike
The Alpine unit is "XM ready." The XM Receiver has to be purchased seperately. This is the route I went in my other car.
on the old ones that was true, on the new ones it is built right in like Mike said
Yup you're right. Just saw that Alpine just released a head unit with the XM reciever built in. Just add an antenna and away you go. No MP3 though.
K996: I am in the process of installing a Roady, and I can't find anywhere to put it either, so I think I am just gonna put it on that little shelf thing under the dash on the drivers side and pull it out when I need it. I have two Pioneer XMs in my other cars (M5, Excursion) and they have much smaller head units and a single cable - easier to mount. Steve
