Hey everyone, We have been kicking this around here for a bit and have finally decided to move ahead with this program. I thought that I would get the word out to all of you first. Carquip now offers a gearbox exchange program for the 996 C2 and C4 gearbox. We have several of these gearboxes ready to go now, in both the two wheel drive, (early and late) as well as the four wheel drive. Pricing is for this program is $4,500 plus shipping with an acceptable core being sent back. Acceptable meaning that the ring and pinion is in good condition, no galling, or damage. If anyone is interested in this please give me a call here to discuss a few of the upgrades that we do here to ensure a bit more strength out of these gearboxes. Limited Slip installation is certainly an option that we can accomodate for you. It would be in addition to the cost listed above, but I am sure that was obvious. Glad to be a help to anyone. Erik

Yes- this isn'tclear. Porsche is rebuilding my gearbox at the moment for a faint whine which has been identified as ring and pinion noise. Do I understand that in my case you would deem my core as not acceptable ? Can we assume that any damage to a core gearbox would make it not acceptable? So, if I read this right (and the point is obvious here) You are offering to exchange a perfectly good gearbox for another perfectly good, but rebuilt, gearbox for $4500? Where do I sign up?
