Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, I posted this over at 6speed and I was just wondering what you guys think? I have also read over the guide up top as well! I'm very new to this forum, here is my situation. I have a friend/client that is going back to their country this summer. He currently has a 2001 911 Coupe. I don't have the details if it's an auto/manual or what options it has yet. I have always wanted to buy one and this seems like a great opportunity. The car has about 55,000 miles on it. He is offering to sell it to me for $30,000+/- a few thousand with negotiations if I really want it.(I do) I'm wondering what the pricing range for this should be whether it is at auctions or private sale to see what kind of deal I can talk him into. I will update the thread when I get more details such as history and options. He bought the car used, so I'm guessing there are at least 2 owners. Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help! After doing much research on it. It has these options... AD Black - Full Leather Interior .00 E3 Lapis Blue Metallic Top .00 M6A Black Mats - Porsche lettering .00 446 Wheel Caps with Colored Crest .00 476 Porsche Stability Management .00 P02 Adaptive Sport Sts Lthr Int .00 436 3-Spoke Lthr Steering Wheel AB .00 E3 Lapis Blue Metallic .00 This vehicle is on its 4th owner and I will be the 5th. Carfax says that is has been in an accident and the airbags were deployed back in 2003. The description says "...involving a front impact with a guardrail, moderate or severe damage reported." With this information, what would the pricing be on this car that I want to buy? **edited with option information and carfax**

POST 2Original post

Go ahead and get a good list of options and pics then we can really help you out.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You got it! Will do so asap!

POST 4Original post

Without knowing the options it's hard to say. Look at the 996 buying guide "sticky" at the top of the forum for additional information.

POST 5Original post

I recently purchased a 2001 C2 with 44k miles for less than $30k

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Luke, Thanks for that data point! What options/color did it have? Another question is what would be the easiest way to find out all the options on the car if the previous owner doesn't know?

POST 7Original post

Under the front hood is the options sticker. Go ahead and shoot a close up that shows us all the codes and we can decode them for you.

POST 9Original post

I would pass... there are plenty of better examples out there.... Since this car has been in an accident. My hunch would have to be $22k-$24k. But like I said, I wouldnt buy this car.

I would pass as well In todays 996 market one can do very well with 30-5K (99-01 yrs for sure) for me and for you GL

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow, 22-24kish, He was asking 30ish. Maybe if I can get it around there and it has a good PPI, I should consider it. Yikes!

POST 12Original post

It's not that $30k is a ridiculous price, it's that it's clearly on the high side for a 4-owner vehicle that doesn't have an insane amount of options and has been in an accident bad enough to deploy the airbags.

POST 13Original post

Never fall in love with a car until AFTER you buy it. I would pass on this one and look for a car with no stories. Good luck.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the opinion guys. I'm going to see how this turns out. My friend has to leave the country in a month, maybe I can get it for 20k or something, then I might consider. Thanks for the heads up. I haven't even driven it yet.
