Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

for the past two weeks, when ever I get into my car and slam the door shut (when it's REALLY cold) the driver side window rolls down halfway. Once I put the ey in the ignition and turn the car on, I roll it up manually. It's also happened once when I got out of the car and shut the door *firmly* The problem really only seems to happen on VERY cold days...never when it's warm. Thoughts? sean

POST 2Original post

Maybe a loose wire on the doors key mechanisms. If you put the key in the door and hold the key in the unlock position it will roll both windows down. Figuring the drivers side might have a wire loose due to metal shrinking making the loose wire more prone to intermitent connection it might give a reading to the computer of breaking a connection which means roll the window down. Not really sure but I'd figure its the wiring or socket for controlling that side. Maybe try some lube for the key hole in case one of the mechanisms is sticking towards making a reading of the key is still held in the unlock position. Cold also makes old dirty lubes sticky. Good luck with it.

Thx. I haven't used a key to open the car since I bought it! I will try your suggestions. sean
