Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got a 99 coupe with aero kit, black on black (I'll post pics soon) and am wondering what kind of mods people do first (seems like everyone here is into moding). Also, who are some good vendors to go through? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Welcome Nick. First "mod" should be DE events. As for the car, short shifter kit, PSE, lower it, clear side marker lenses....hold on to your wallet....

POST 3Original post

Well I started with "Just for Men" in dark brown..then onto 3" lifts...Dang, you talkin bout P-cars, my bad.

POST 4Original post

Nick congrats on the car...Enjoy it! Mods? what's that? haha

POST 5Original post

First mod should be to invest in a camera so you can post pics of your ride!

POST 7Original post

1. clear side markers 2. since you have a 99, clear litronics and clear tail lights 3. Exhaust (popular choices: fabspeed, ghl or PSE) 4. Suspension 5. Rims/tires I would go with 969 motorsports... Support Kirby and crew

POST 8Original post

We do not support the modification of any P-car...in fact, you must remove the mods (aero kit) currently on your car or be banned from this site forever.

POST 10Original post

Please cease and desist this discussion forcing my client Nick to spend thousands of dollars that cannot be redeemed at time of sale. Sincerely, Nick's Wife's Attorney

POST 11Original post

My first mods are going to be short shift kit, lowering springs, new shift boot/****, ebrake and I still have not picked mine up yet. I take delivery on Thursday.

POST 13Original post

I just went with clear (I guess they are actually smoked?) side marker lenses, the short shift kit, and 5mm spacers (I know, it's mostly cosmetic but damn it really makes the look completely). I am leaning mightily to exhaust and suspension next. Lock and load.

POST 14Original post

Nice wheels, always gotta have nice wheels. Did I hear someone say Supercharger? Wasn't me. Will

POST 15Original post

Black on Black - Love It - Just like My Baby - I would Say Get A New Pair Of Shoes For Your New Baby, Perf, Deep Lip... The Only Way To Go.....

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll get pictures up soon. So far I've got Fikse FM/10 18's and short shifter. The car also has a 3M clear bra which is a must. I've used this on other cars and wouldn't own one without it.

POST 17Original post

That's a good start. Next: suspension, then exhaust. Or vice versa.

POST 19Original post

DE. Definitely DE. It'll allow you to get the most out of any physical mods you do afterwards. -KJ

POST 20Original post

1. V1 2. SSK (in-car) 3. PSE 4. RoW M030 or X-73/4 5. Clear lights 6. Stereo

POST 21Original post

1. Driver's Ed is a great 1st. In the beginning group you learn how to control your car with an instructor who shows you the best shifting, breaking, turn in points, etc. It makes a big difference even if you think you already know these things. Besides its really fun, and in that 1st group relatively safe. 2. After you get good enough to notice that 996 porsches understear when pushed hard ( by design to keep us safe, since your instinct is to slow down when you feel it), then a stiffer suspension and anti roll bars are the next mod. 3. If you're now going faster, but safer, you still need safety equipment: roll cage, race seats, 6 point harness, Hans device (with the helmet you bought at the 1st). OK you probably were not talking about these kind of mods, but they sure are fun!!!

POST 22Original post

I see that the short shifter is a popular mod. Ok, I'm new here and a little green, but what ARE the benefits of a short shifter? John 2002 C4S Lapis Blue/Metropol Blue (just got PSE!)

POST 23Original post

The SS Kits reduce the length of the shift but adds more effort. Not a lot more but some. Some people will say the shifter is not quite as smooth as the original. Over all it is a sportier driving experience.

POST 24Original post

I agree SSK, then wheels and along the way some interior cosmetics.

POST 25Original post

You should add the mods that mean the most to you. If you find yourself admiring everyone's aftermarket wheels, then do the wheels first. If you prefer performance over appearance, then shoot for the exhaust, ssk, etc... Just my 2 cents. BUT, in the end, it all must get done...just a matter of time and money.

POST 26Original post

First rule of modding... Enjoy the car BONE stock for a little while. Appreciate what it is in stock form and then go ahead and do a few tweaks at a time Also be sure to try out those afformentioned mods on other people's cars just so you can see what to expect etc... Enjoy the car and post some pix!

3rd radiator from Porsche Motorsport. A cooler car is better and faster.

POST 28Original post

3rd radiator is a great idea.. especially if you intend on doing any DE's... We always get our kits from Gert at www.carnewal.com since it's way easier than doing some from Porsche Motorsports. Unless you're a race team that is
