Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I know...I have been remiss in posting some photos of the new ride (well, my new ride; it's a 2000 cabriolet that I found with only 5000 miles) since joining the site. These were taken by my salesman in FL on delivery (you gotta go where you gotta go to find a good car). Having returned to New York, the car is currently being fitted with 5mm spacers, an OEM short shift kit, clear side marker lenses, and color center wheel crests (I know, this was a bit compulsive). An exhaust and intake are still in the thought works. Thanks for all the input here on Rennlist, though. You guys rule! Alright, on to the photos (oh, and for detail-oriented viewers, don't worry about that white spot on the bumper; it's just soap): ...

POST 3Original post

Car looks great...would never guess it was 5 years old!

POST 5Original post

5000 miles!! sharp looking car...looks like its loaded with options, enjoy.

POST 6Original post

Looks great! Of course, I'm biased since my '00 Cab is also AS... Congrats!

POST 7Original post

Very nice CAB. Looks like it was treated nicely in its' former life.

POST 10Original post

Nice ride! If you want an exhaust system, let me know I have a GHL system like new off my 01 Cab.

POST 12Original post

IF you don't mind telling what did you pay for her?

POST 14Original post

Congrats on your beautiful new Cab! You're gonna love that car! ROW 030, ROW 030, ROW 030, ROW 030, ROW 030...............

POST 15Original post

It helps all potential buyers know the market. I think its one of the advantages to participate in forums. This is no different than "who has the best price for PSS9s?" or "how much discount are you guys seeing on new cars" posts. I don't hesitate to tell people what I paid.

POST 16Original post

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there are some who don't like the 996's styling, but dam are they beautiful to me. Congratulations. It's hard to believe that your car is five years old.

POST 17Original post

To each his own then. Mods are totally different than a car when it comes to cost. I just hate when people ask "how much did you pay for 'x' item?" when 'x' is a high dollar item. Just a very uncomfortable situation. But then again, the anonymity of this place for people like yourself (no name, no location, etc.) makes it easier to exchange that info.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I kind of concur with LVDell. The prices are readily available in any classifieds web site. Moreover, the reason I am little uncomfortable stating what I paid is because the dealer is a friend of mine and helped me out tremendously. I will say that I was very pleasantly surprised by what the 'used' car market offers since I have always purchased new cars; I won't be going that new route again after getting this stunner at such a welcome price.

POST 20Original post

The "Asking" price is readily available. Getting a real feel for the market to make a sound decision requires information on actual selling prices. To each his own I guess, but why not help out enthusiastic prospective new owners when you can? A stronger 996 community will be the result.

POST 21Original post

I don't mind discussing the cost of cars with other Porsche owners... it's when your relative, who makes 35 grand a year says "wow, what did that car cost you, like 60 grand?"... that's awkward. BTW, Dell how much did you pay for your house?

POST 22Original post

Good one Rob! I am sure nowhere near what you guys are paying in NY. Totally understand the relative comment. I get that all the time. "Man, that is a sweet car.....sure wish I could afford $50K on a car". To which you bite your tongue from saying "Try doubling it". I just say, "I wish it was only $50K" and leave it at that. It does put things back in perspective though when you hear comments like that.
