Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am stuck in the middle on which to purchase. Both cars are coupes and exactly the same colors inside and out! The '99 is going for $37.5, has 36k miles and is warrantied until 06/09 or 40k more miles, only upgrades are exhaust and clutch kit, no service papers. The '01 is going for $45k (obo) has 11k miles, is porsche certified warranty until 06/07 and has the partial aero kit (no tail) and premium wheels, all papers. Owner didn't know which size wheels were on it and I don't know what premium means... Which one to buy?? is $7.5k more worth it for the newer car? If I'm not mistaken there is no difference between these model years? Thanks for any and all opinions.

POST 2Original post

See if the '99 is direct throttle linkage and if it has LSD, this IMHO would make it more desirable then an '01 w/e-gas and PSM.

POST 3Original post

Go for the newer car with lower miles. If you sell in the future or trade up, you'll get more money for the newer one. Also the newer one will have 26,000 miles less wear, but, then again. I have seen low mileage P/cars really torn up and high mileage cars really well cared for. But... go for the one that your gut tells you to go with... and regardless of their warranty get a PPI done first.

POST 4Original post

I'd go for the '01. Trully think Anderson's rule of buying the "newest you can afford" still stands...

POST 5Original post

The newer the car the better, This is the general rule of thumb for a Porsche, unless you talk to some of the 993 guys

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the input. I think I'll buy the '01. And yes, a PPI will be done!

POST 7Original post

Split the difference and buy my 2001 with 58k miles for $42k

POST 8Original post

2001 for sure the interior is MUCH nicer you will love the car that much more. Plus the Aero skirts and bumper are a must have IMHO.
