Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is there one? My rear bumper has some gashes from the PO and I thought I'd try to rattle can the whole thing as a quick fix before I get into really painting it.

Go to your automotive paint dealer and have them mix you up a rattle can of Arktissilver. Porsche code L92T. It's a fast dry acrylic enamel. $19.95/can. I use it for interior pieces on my Boxsters and my 996.

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ used them twice, great match both times

POST 4Original post

Silver is very hard to match. More than likely it won't match from a spray can. You can easily make it look worse than it did before you touched it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

RedTele, do all paint dealers do this? Automotive touchup didn't list Artic Silver on their website. Someone also suggested Touchupdirect Imo000, I was planning on painting the whole rear bumper, not do a spot touch up. Probably also do the bumperettes

I'm guessing you'll just have to call around, but I'd think an automotive paint speciality shop would be able to do it no problem. It's fairly common. As far as a color match, I've been very happy. However, since this isn't a basecoat/clearcoat paint, you may see sun fade after time. I've been very happy with the interior pieces I've done on several cars. Good luck!

Doesn't matter if you are painting the entire bumper, silver is hard to match. You can get away with it if only painting small parts like bumperettes, mirrors, etc. Large panels will stick out from far if the don't match. The bumper being next to other panels will be contrasting a lot if the paint shade is off.

I've used Tower, Paintscratch, and automotivetouchup and I like the last one the best. They can be slow in processing your order so plan ahead or don't expect expedited service all the time depending on their load. Their pro style spray nozzles are very good. The clear coat they sell is also the professional type. Even on the can it says not for consumer use. It is highly recommended you wear a good respirator with this. That clear is the best I've used out of the can.
