Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks, I just bought a damaged 02 C4s with 35000miles. Car was hit on each door and rail. im debating if im stripping the entire car, remove the front diff and leave the car for track purpose only. I know the 4s has a little over 200lbs more than a regular c2, but with all the weight removed, it should be equal. So, is a c4s a good platform for track only if stripped correctly? or my other plan is to rebuild the car and plate it and use as a daily driver i also bought a 04 boxster s and plan to put it on track too. my dad and i are trying to put less money on track since insurance here in qc is kind of impossible to get. ref: insurance wants 7500$ for my gt3 to cover up on track... thanks for the help

POST 2Original post

I think you save some 90lbs by dropping the front diff alone. I'd imagine the 4s would have a lot more grip and lateral stability, given the fatter wheels/tires and wider track. Any pics? Also how did you pick it up for, if you don't mind me asking?

POST 3Original post

its a good question one i was thinking of lately. C4s, wide body would make a great built motor track car that should out handle a 6gt3, and no,wide body 6gt3 were made.. Obviously though at a pretty steep price unless you got this car for, next to nothing.

I think EU autowerks in Toronto had a stripped track prepared C4S converted to RWD. Converted to AWD will reduce the weight by 100 lbs see this thread Though with a widebody, larger rotors and brakes and wider track that all add weight, it will still keep the C2 100 lbs lighter then a C4S before and after a weight loss. My stock C4S doesn't have any issue keeping up to or passing stock C2's on the track. I couldn't keep up to your GT3 earily last year when you had it at mosport but I think the 60 hp difference and 300 lbs of extra weight explains why it didn't even any remote chance. Stripped and a more GT3 like suspension would even that advantage up but the hp difference would still be a disadvantage.

POST 5Original post

One of the reasons the AWD models weigh more is because the underbody is a little different than the RWD models due to some strengthening that is added. The AWD body is stiffer than the RWD body. Food for thought.
