Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my car is torn down for the IMS upgrade. It's also getting a clutch kit, flywheel and the air/oil seperator replaced. Any other items I should check or consider while I'm in here with the gearbox out? The RMS has been done and is bone dry so I'm considering leaving well enough alone in regards to that.

POST 4Original post

Water pump if it has high miles or lives most of its life in higher temps.

POST 5Original post

why would you do the water punmp with just the trans out....maybe if the motor was out we could give "the big list" I agree WP is a good preventative step....

POST 7Original post

+1 on oil cooler seals. Did them when I had the IMS upgrade done... well, after the shop found one to be leaking.

POST 8Original post

New 997 clutch fork and pin with plastic part. Grease moving parts.

POST 9Original post

Clutch for may make creaking noise. Upgrade to get fork pressure on the plastic and of the pin.

POST 10Original post

I would do the RMS anyway... the new RMS is + upgraded and aged RMS will deteriorate.

Agreed. It's too cheap not to replace it with all that labor.

POST 12Original post

Starter was suggested to me to be done along with RMS and IMS upgrade.

POST 13Original post

VarioCam wear pads, 4th/5th timing chains, revised camshaft drive sprocket, lifters, low temp thermostat, spin on oil filter adapter bundle...

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all of the replies! Going to go ahead and do the RMS and oil cooler seals. Water pump was doned 30k ago so will let it ride.
