Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 1977 911s targa rear trunk lid that's stuck close. Any help with how to open it. The cable I believe is not attached after it was painted. Do I need to remove the rear bumper . Thanks Tom

POST 2Original post

This is the 996 forum - twenty years later than your car. 996's have plenty of issues with frunks and trunks not opening though. If this helps, my MR2 had a cable failure. I was able to remove a trim piece and get access to the latch bolts with a long flex extension. Removing the bolts enabled the trunk to open a bit (constrained by the cable housing), but enough to unlatch it manually.

From this diagram you can see the simplicity of the cable connection that opens the rear lid. Perhaps you can figure out what to do or where the cable is detached. Also, have you had someone pull up on engine lid while you pull the cable? Sometimes it doesn't spring up on it's own. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=803-05 You can thank the 996 members later.
