Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In Jan this year I purchased a 996.2 c2 manual coupe with recent Hartech 3.9L engine upgrade and lots of other quality mods. It has Topgear sports headers, FVD X-pipe with Red back 200c high flow cats, Top gear quiet muffler which was too quiet (funny about that) so had the bypass done. Still find it a little quiet 🤔.I would have chosen the louder one myself. I'm missing that deep throaty sound with crackle & pops. Previously had a GT4 which sounded perfect !! Hard act to follow. I'm looking at at this switchable system and wondering if anyone has had any real life experiences with sound quality and reliability quality. Also wondering if the flaps would eventually stop working and maybe I should go for non adjustable system. https://www.design911.com/Exhaust-Mu...996/prod13019/ I'm in Australia and no issues with salt corrosion. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Cheers Jim

POST 2Original post

I'm pretty sure we will eventually have a switchable exhaust. We currently have the stock set up and it is perfect for daily driving, but way too quiet for when we want to show off and get attention. Maybe will do the Fister mod with a way to switch it off, perhaps tied in with the manual detent on our Tiptronic.

Ok, Just read some no so good reviews stating the muffler baffles breaking up. I'll steer clear of all Design Tek products. I guess you get what you pay for.

Seems like l'm chatting to myself here...Lol Just an update. Today my Brother inlaw and l both placed an order for Milltek mufflers, ETA quoted by end of June. I'll post up my impressions if anyone is interested. Cheers Jim
