Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Brand new to Porsche ownership (and loving it), and brand new to posting on the site - though I frequently look to you for all advice on a million things in the 3 or so months I've owned the car. About the car, I picked up a beautiful 2004 C4S Cab in Carrara White. Picture attached. I know one of the things I want to do is get the Fister Exhaust. I am local to the Bay Area, but hoping I can get a reaction on what color would be best along with the Carrara White. I know it's a personal opinion at the end of the day, but any reactions you have would be appreciated. I'm thinking Black or Cermachrome. Thanks so much, Chris

POST 2Original post

Im planning on doing Fister exhaust next year. Cermachrome is sharp looking. At the end of the day, no one is going to see the muffler tucked behind the bumper, so it seems like a waste of money to spend on the higher cost coating (or any coating for that matter). my decision would be to not finish it. I dont drive on salted roads. I would plan on saving the extra cash for adjustable pedals or a 997/SSK/GT3/Numeric shifter to add to the driving experience.

Thanks so much - that's helpful. Probably overthinking it, to your point! Happy driving.

POST 4Original post

What Jedi said, you will never see the mufflers except during oil changes. Your tips are your most important rear end bling, also that big wide rear.

POST 6Original post

If I were driving a white 996, I'd be skewed towards: https://swaintech.com/race-coatings/...aust-coatings/ But being on the east coast factors somewhat into that opinion.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks - that's interesting. I do love the white, and in fact, even have considered getting the wheels matched....worry it will be a bit too much, but am not currently in love with the black rims since it sort of shows as a 'black hole' against the white and with the black of the tires.

Forget about muffler color, just take off your muffler tips and buff them to a high shine.
