Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think that's for a automatic
Yes it will fit. All the mufflers externally are the same fitment, manual or auto. Internally there are different baffle configurations from model to model and year to year. The later years have a little more growl and the earlier ones are quieter. Also the earlier ones tend to rot quicker and have broken baffles. They were made with thinner material. Just give it a good shake and you can hear if there are internal baffles broken or not.
Thanks, Quaz, The ad on eBay claims it's in good condition. My passenger side muffler is making the sound you described. I figured I would take a chance on it. For $300 it's a lot cheaper than a $1000+ for a new one.

Scoe, fwiw, I have a passenger side muffler from my 2002 that is on rennlist marketplace. Been sitting in storage since 2006 when I put on an fvd exhaust. Not alot of miles on it. My car today only has 58k miles. Pm me if you have an interest. I can film shaking it for sound etc. Have a passenger side cat as well of the same age. $180 for muffler with 19k miles on it. I just bumped the post in marketplace which forgot about. Trying to clean out all of my 996 stuff sitting in the basement that I know I won't use.
Scoe; can I ask is there a certain rpm where you notice it more. Mine is 1800rpm- only time I ever hear it is that rpm when Im next to a building or wall.
I can hear it at various RPMs...and I can hear it at idle as well. I must add this is only when the car is warm. After a half hour or so of driving the sound becomes noticeable.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
