Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996 C2 coolant level was quite below the MIN line so I topped it off to the MAX line today with Pentofrost SF (about 1.25 liter). I just realized it was full strength and I should have diluted it with 50% distilled water Can I suck out .625 liter of it and add .625 liter of distilled water to fix this? Do I need to do a coolant flush? Please help, thanks.

POST 2Original post

Nah, don't bother. You got 6 gal of coolant in the engine. 1L is negligible. Next time you can even just top off with distilled water. Just make sure your cap ends with .04 (latest) and keep monitoring the coolant level for a few wks.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I'll just leave it alone then. I have the .01 cap so I will be ordering the .04 cap, and hopefully that will solve the low coolant level issue. I just got the car a week ago and learned about the cap issue here.

POST 4Original post

If you are really concerned, simply drop a couple of litre into a catch pan and top the system off with distilled water. That should do it.

POST 5Original post

You're fine. The mixture is 50/50 or a little bit more antifreeze in colder climates. The small amount you added isn't going to adversely affect the overall 6 gallons. 50/50 = 11 liters distilled water / 11 liters pure Porsche antifreeze. You now have (assuming your 1.25 liter add is accurate) 10.375 liters water / 11.650 liters antifreez. or 47/53 ratio which is within the acceptable range.
