Hey guys, since buying my Targa a year and half ago I have felt the subwoofer to be lacking in bass. Pulling the box I now see why! I don't see a Porsche part number on the subwoofer, but looking up Bose 253871 revealed these subwoofers were used in R230 Mercedes SL cars. Ebay has a couple auctions running for one of these. Would there be a reason one wouldn't work? Anyone know of an easily swappable replacement made by a better brand? MB Quart, Alpine, etc?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The better question is, how did your speaker end up rusted and missing material? Was this a flood car that was inhabited by mice?!

Although I did find quite a mouse nest in the back, no flood that I can see, thankfully. There's a drain that runs directly under the sub and my guess is at some point it clogged and it became sub............merged.
PM sent. I have a subwoofer speaker from a 2004 Cabriolet that is a direct replacement for your damaged one.
