Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I'm looking for a good short-shift kit to install. I had one for my 98 Boxster and it was much improved, but one thing I'm looking to do is to reduce the height of the shifter as well. Any ideas? Thanks! Scott

POST 2Original post

B & M - same as the Porsche SSk for much less $$

POST 3Original post

ditto on the B&M - good diy project that you'll be very happy with!

POST 4Original post

I did the B&M under car kit. Easy to reverse too.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. Any word on lowering the shifter? On my Boxster, I had the B&M and cut the shaft down a bit, but I really didn't notice much, has anyone tried on the 996 and had positive results?

POST 7Original post

Scott - Here is the thread that John (StanSoph) posted a while back about cutting down the shaft of his Short Shifter. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...&highlight=SSK Hope this helps!

POST 8Original post

I probably should have taken pics. The new shift throws are about 3". It is a tad firmer, but I rely like it. Kinda like a light switch.

POST 9Original post
