Like others on here have done, I am changing out the seat foam on the bottom cushion due to a fried seat element. My question is: the old seat foam has a layer of additional padding on the outer bolsters (gray in picture). Is the new foam supposed to have that? Is it supposed to be transferred over? It peels away, but that might simply be due to age. One aspect of my car is that this seat is not original. My car is a Targa, and my understanding is that the seat foam in those is slightly thinner. This likely came from a non-Targa car, so maybe that's why the extra layer is there?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
