Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've read a few posts asking for help removing the belly pan or under-body panel clips. There were warnings of caution and reports of broken clips. After attempting it myself, I was able to remove all 6 clips on the forward panel pretty easily with a 2 screwdriver technique. Hope this saves you some anxiety. This is the famed metal clip. Notice the tab on each end. Also notice the "V" shape that's higher on each end. Insert a short flat blade screwdriver firmly between the tab and the clip, as you pry gently outward with a longer flat blade. The clips will pop out unharmed.

I was wrestling with those clips just this AM re-installing the front belly pan on my 986. They were a PIA coming off and another PIA going back on!

POST 3Original post

I ordered a dozen clips so I don’t have to be that careful. They’re not that expensive...or weren’t about three years ago.

I also ordered a dozen because I knew after looking at them when I first bought the car, that they were going to be trouble. In October of 2017 they were 67 cents and now they're $1.04. Still fairly reasonable.

POST 5Original post

I had good luck too with the two screwdriver method. No problems at all. Going back on was nothing. I don’t understand difficulties getting them back on. I’m sure there is a nice special tool for these out there somewhere, but for now screwdrivers and a little patience work fine.
