Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a '99 Cab, and from what I found/read is that nobody has come across a way to keep the fans/climate control OFF when starting the car. No matter what the previous setting, it always comes on when starting the car. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...limate+control http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...rol-always-on/ I know I can turn the fan all the way down until it reads OFF, but here's the rub: I've converted my car into a 100% electric Porsche . As a safety precaution, the battery management system searches for any "significant" electrical draw prior to turning the the battery pack "on". This way if there is a fault in the system, the car is protected and the battery pack won't come online. The climate control system pulls enough power to be considered a fault and I have to manually turn it off each time as I start the car: 1) Insert key and partially turn key to ON position (but not to start!) 2) Turn down fan / heater until control reads OFF 3) Turn the key to start position and release 4) Enjoy the ride If I could find a way to keep the fans from coming on automatically, it would start like a normal car, taking step 2 out of the euqation, thus making it easier for someone else to drive without an explanation and saving me 1 second each time I start the car. Just a minor inconvenience but a pain in reality. It sounds like this may only be an issue with earlier model 996s. Is this something a dealer could reprogram? Any idea if swapping a part from a newer car would fix this? Any help appreciated!
