Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Howdy folks - It's been quite a while since I sold my 2003 996.2 C2 and I still have this pair of stock, unmodified, switchable PSE exhaust cans taking up space in my garage. It's time for them to go! The bad news is, when I took them off the car they both had rattles... which typically indicates one or more of the internal baffles is coming loose. Otherwise they are in good order. See attached video of the valves being actuated by hand. If you know how to weld or are willing to invest in having them cut open and repaired, this could be an affordable way to add always-on PSE sound to your non-PSE 996. Or, if you already have factory PSE wiring, this could be a spare set of cans to have repaired in advance of the inevitable moment when yours begin to rattle. Because they will, lol. I'm not interested in shipping these. They are FREE to whoever picks them up in Marin County, CA (zip 94904). First come, first served. Feel free to PM me. Thanks for looking. PS: These have been stored indoors in the attic above my attached garage, so have not been subject to the elements. They look the same as when they came off my old car.

Browsing my next move since one of mine is rattling. Presumably, you are talking about opening it up and welding the baffles?

Not a baffle but a rod, that's about 3/8" dia x 3" long if I recall. A support of sorts, mine rattled when I bought the car but weren't installed, the PO replaced it with non valved mufflers. Easy fix if you can weld.
