Noise is 100% coming from clutch area (I'd say closer to pressure plate/clutch side than flywheel/IMSB). Goes away completely with clutch pedal depressed, and can get it to never do it if I slowly pump the pedal once or twice to "re-seat" the clutch against the flywheel. Does this sound like a bad flywheel to you or something else? Planning on dropping the trans this weekend but just curious as to what you guys think. Thx - You Tube

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bad throw out bearing, more likely.

Yeah, it goes away with pedal depressed though, and it's not constant - more of a chatter. Almost sounds like the clutch fork rattling around somehow. Pretty interesting thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...on-rattle.html Macster describes a similar issue there. I do have plugs, coils and 4 o2 sensors in my garage so maybe will swap them out before dropping the trans and see if that fixes it.
@ hkovalcik Did you fix it? I have a similar noise I need to figure out. Seems like its probably my flywheel because the clutch was done just a few years ago.
Usually when clutch is depressed, then throw out bearing is engaged and spinning, thats when it makes noise if bad. With out clutch depressed the throw out bearing is doing nothing and not engaged, so unless the throw out bearing's pivot/linkage etc, is busted or not correctly in place, then probably not the throw out bearing. The pilot shaft bearing (pressed in flywheel center bore) spins when the clutch pedal is depressed and throw out bearing is engaged....
Ive seen the transmission input shaft bearing make noise with the same pattern, only noisy when the input is spinning and not loaded too heavy, not porsche specific, seen on many cars.

Just a few years ago? That is old enough to go bad.
