Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since I just went through removing the driver side door panel to replace the lock mechanism and add Dynamat/sound deadening/dampening material, I figured I would take step-by-step photos when I installed the Dynamat material on the passenger side. Door panel removal instructable. Dynamat instructable.

I'd enjoy seeing your pix and description, but not interested in signing up for an "instructible" account. Can you post it here?

Looks like I posted the links for editing. Fixed. Try them again - should not need to login.

Foo, now it wants me to sign up for a Facebook account to read your instructions.

POST 5Original post

Great job, this is going to help a lot of people.

Did you notice any significant difference with the Dynamat added? Does it at least make the doors sound better when you close them? (That's one of the things I hate about the 996) I've done Dynamat and / or competitor's sound deadening products in lots of my vehicles, and the results have varied drastically. In many cases, the difference was only the more solid sound when closing a door or banging on a panel, and no noticeable improvement when driving. I did, however have a 2013 Tacoma prior to my 996 that I did. That truck had very little from the factory, so I did notice a big improvement on that one.

POST 7Original post

Possibly another mod to do I didn't know I didn't need! Is this juice worth the squeeze?

Whaaaat? Ray this URL http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...a-Porsche-996/ I logged out of Facebook and Instructables and it appears to work.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Rainmn: closing the doors still sounds like an empty 50 gal drum made from the thinnest metal in the world. I have a cab so the window rattles a fair bit when the door is closed. Also I only did Dynamat behind the speaker because I couldn't be bothered to do the rest of the panel. My main reason for adding the Dynamat was do reduce the boominess of the door speakers, which I do not plan to replace. It seems to have helped with this.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
